Farms is a series of 10 traditional caches set in an almost circular walk of approx. 2.5 miles around three farms, passing the three farm cottages where I once lived as a child. The three farms are: • Cocking Park Farm which used to be known for its piggery • Pitsham Farm • Hawkhurst Farm, known to me as “Alan Sinclair’s Farm” along Cocking Causeway The walk will take you through meadows, over wooden bridges, streams, past mighty oaks, lime trees & superb conker collecting trees, through fields of horses, under the old Midhurst & Chichester railway bridge, past Richard Cobden’s Obelisk, giving great views of the downs and its countryside. It should take approx 1 to 1.5 hours to complete. I have put “not pushchair accessible” as there are quite a few stiles, ground can be a little muddy & bumpy in places, however there is nothing stopping you from lifting buggies over!!! We set the cache with a four year old in tow and she enjoyed the walk. The walk trails along Bridle paths & Public footpaths, although there is some limited lane walking and a very busy main road to cross over twice. There are approx 8 stiles and a kissing gate on this loop. It can be muddy in places, especially in the marshy lowlands and during rainy times. Parking is available at N 50 57.766 W 000 44.782 (the start of the series) along Bex Lane, a short stroll back to main road will set you on your way.
