Geocache Description:

A road side cache with great views.

The Appalachian National Scenic Trail, generally known as the Appalachian Trail or simply the AT, is a marked hiking trail in the eastern United States extending between Springer Mountain in Georgia and Mount Katahdin in Maine.

It is approximately 2,184 miles (3,515 km) long. Along the way, the trail passes through the states of: Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

The path is maintained by 30 trail clubs and multiple partnerships, and managed by the National Park Service and the nonprofit Appalachian Trail Conservancy. The majority of the trail is in wilderness, although some portions traverse towns, roads and cross rivers.

Then came the International Appalachian Trail, stretching the AT's northern end in Maine to the edge of Canada's Maritime Provinces, where Vikings long ago landed.

Now they've extended the walk: across the Atlantic to western Europe, where the mountain chain's other half loops south to Morocco. The IAT brushes the east coast of Greenland before picking up in Ireland then Wales and Scotland. It resumes on the mainland in Norway and proceeds south through France, Portugal, nips western Spain and ends in Morocco.

The Donegal section passes right through Ardara after (or before depending on which way you're heading) a stretch along some of Europe's highest sea cliffs. More info on the Donegal section can be found on the Discover Ireland website.

This cache is the starting and aims to be the end point for a Georgia Appalachian geocoin who's journey you can track via TBVPQF. If you come across it I hope you can help it on its' way.

The cache is a small, clear, tablock box.
