Geocache Description:


The Ridge Hill Reserve consists of 4 parcels totaling 210 acres on the northern boundary of Dartmouth. The property include the 38-acre Jason Phillips Mill Site, the 85-acre Ridge Hill Reserve, the 35-acre Barzabiel Washburn Reserve and the 52-acre Ridge Hill Expansion property. The land, most of it wooded upland, lies just south of the Copicut Reservoir between the Copicut and Shingle Island Rivers. The Reserve land abuts the 14,000-acre Southeast Mass Bio- Reserve, and is very close to several other protected properties within Dartmouth.
The Ridge Hill Reserve includes beautiful pitch pines and hemlocks, white pines and mature beech stands. It also includes one of the highest points in Dartmouth. Visitors should watch for lady slippers in the late spring, blueberries and huckleberries in late summer and many different species of birds and plants.
