FR : Le minerai de fer est exploité au pied du Jura dès le IVème siècle avant J.-C. Mais c'est dès le XVème siècle que la petite ville de Vallorbe s'est spécialisée dans l'industrie du fer, avec des ferrières et des grandes forges. A la fin du VIIème, l'industrie se diversifie et on voit apparaître de nouvelles spécialités sidérurgiques, telles que la serrurerie ou l'armurerie. De nos jours, les limes de Vallorbes sont toujours une référence en la matière.
C'est donc tout naturellement que le Musée du Fer a ouvert ses portes à Vallorbe en 1980, suivi une dizaine d'années plus tard d'un Musée du Chemin de Fer, dans la même enceinte. Vous pouvez y voir toute la chaîne de production et de transformation du métal, ainsi que différents artisans à l'oeuvre.
Traditionnellement, le week-end de Pâques est synonyme de fête au Musée du Fer. Jusqu'en 2011 s'y tenait la Biennale des Couteliers, à partir de 2012, c'est le Festival annuel des Couteliers qui y a lieu. Si vous voulez y découvrir de nombreux et talentueux artisans, c'est le bon moment pour y aller!

La cache ne nécessite pas d'entrer au musée, elle est accessible en tout temps gratuitement sauf pendant le festival. Soyez discrets, et prudents quand vous cherchez la nano pour qu'elle ne tombe pas. Bonne chasse!
ENG : The iron ore has been mined and worked at the foot of Jura since VIth century BC. But the little town of Vallorbe has only specialized in metallurgy in XVth century, with smelting works and forges. At the end of VIIth century, this industry diversifies and new ironwork specialties appear, such as locksmithing and armouries. Nowadays, Vallorbe's files are still considered among the best.
So it is natural that a Museum of Iron opened here in Vallorbe in 1980, followed ten years later by a Museum of Railway, in the same building. You can learn here about the whole extracting and transforming process of the metal, and even admire smiths at work.
Traditionally, Easter weekend means celebration at the Museum. Up to 2011 was held the biennial Fest of the Knife-makers, and from 2012 on, it will be held every year. If you wish to encounter many talented craftspeople, it is the good time to go!
