welcome to our very first placed geocache!
for our first cache, we decided to go with something simple just to get our feet wet.. this should be a fairly easy find, but watch out, muggles will be your biggest obstacle for this one! please do not attempt if you think you are going to bring attention to the container. baseball season will be tough and a morning or weekend may be your best bet! and of course replace the cache as you found it.
there are several no trespassing signs at one end of the park. we have obtained permission to use this area so please respect the park, as we are very grateful we were allowed to do this.
the name of the cache comes from the names of the ball teams that play at this field. as a youngster, i happened to play a year for the minor league "blue jays" at age 9, then later was chosen to move up to the little league "cardinals" team to play the next 3 years! the "tigers" were obviously our biggest rivals!
i was the second girl to play little league baseball in mifflin county. my parents never "batted" an eye when i told them that was what i wanted to play and encouraged me in every way! a few more girls have since played and i hope there will be many more in the future without the discrimination i faced!
i was very tall so i was taught to be a first base(wo)man.. being tall is a plus for any first baseman because you have the ability to stretch very far for misthrown balls. you may have to stretch just a LITTLE to retrive this cache.
some of my fondest childhood memories took place in this park so i thought it would be a great place for a cache and really hope you enjoy it!
there is a special bonus for SCALEOFGRAYS included in this cache, please do not remove this strip of paper if you happen to get to the cache before they do! thank you so much! they have been so helpful in teaching us about geocaching and are always helpful when we have a question. they have become great friends of ours so we wanted to give them something special.
