The Discovery Place Conservation Area has 1.7 Kilometers of walking trails. This conservation area, located at Gilmore Way and Sanderson Way, preserves some of the original natural setting of the Discovery Place high-technology complex site. Burnaby City Council approved the original Discovery Parks Community Plan in 1980, establishing a site intended to accommodate future development sites for advanced scientific and technological research activities. Through the rezoning process, some of the site was preserved as public conservation area for your enjoyment.
The Electronic Arts building uses green roof technology resulting in protection and longer material lifespan of the roof, savings on energy heating and cooling costs, and insulation to absorb, reflect or deflect sound waves.
The Knowledge Network is BC's public educational broadcaster, and bounds the eastern side of the conservation area.
The nearby Schneider Electric facility is dedicated to the design and marketing of Solar renewable energies products.
Kodak, Burnaby General Hospital, Telus and the British Columbia Institute of Technology are also close neighbours to this conservation area.
