Geocache Description:

Near the historic Brigflatts Friends Meeting House

The cache is placed just outside the Friends' premises. You are welcome to visit both the meeting house and the burial ground as you visit the cache. The Quaker burial ground was first used in 1656 when it was part of an orchard belonging to local blacksmith Richard Robinson. The Meeting House was built in 1675 and has been in continuous use ever since. The gallery was added in 1714. This area was a stronghold for the Friends (Quakers) after the visit of George Fox in 1652 when he stayed here with Richard Robinson, one of the local "Seekers".

Please note that the short lane to the meeting house is a public footpath, but technically a private road, so drivers are asked to park in the lay-bye at N 54 18.985 W 002 33.231 and walk the short distance down the lane. There is limited turning space and no official parking space for geocachers, though disabled visitors to the meeting house may park in one reserved space. The cache is placed by kind permission of the owner of the verge. Please do not go through the gate marked "Private", even on foot.
