Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the Historic Route 66 Geocaching Project, a series created by the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona, and designated as an official Arizona Centennial Legacy Project by the Arizona Historical Advisory Commission.

This building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (#402878) in 1986. It was constructed of Dacite, a volcanic rock, in 1900. The architecture is Colonial Revival. The building caught fire a number of times due to its proximity to the train tracks. (sparks from the stack) One time when it was rebuilt, the roof-line was altered and a second entrance was added. The building was used as an office building for the timber industry, specifically the Arizona Lumber & Timber Company associated with the Riordan Family. The building today houses several small professional offices. There are several displays inside the building that depict the building through time. Ask Mr. Butterfield (managing owner) for a tour if he is available.
