Geocache Description:

Presque Isle state park is a jewel among the Pennsylvania state parks. Each year they ask for volunteers to help pick up trash. In the past the Northwest Pennsylvania geocachers have been very helpful in donating their morning to participate. The coordinates are for parking at Perry Monument where I will be there with trash bags and gloves. Start is 9am. It takes about 20 minutes to drive there from the entrance to the park. There will be lunch and prizes and if you haven't got all the caches on the park, you might pick up a few. The park is very supportive of geocaching and has an annual geocaching beginners class each year as well as a geobash in the fall. Watch this site for any additions or changes

Helpful Hints

The Rotary Pavilion is located across the road from the Cookhouse Pavilion. A map of Presque Isle can be found at www.visitPAparks.com

Please be aware that there are deer ticks that may carry Lyme disease on Presque Isle. Take precautions to reduce your exposure. Avoid picking up trash in brushy or wooded areas. Wear long pants and tuck your pants into your socks (ticks have a harder time trying to find a way in) Check for ticks periodically during your time outdoors and check again once you get home.

Go to Center of Disease Control for more info. (visit link)

When finished please place bags along side of the road for pick-up by our maintenance.

DO NOT pick up needles or syringes or anything that looks hazardous to you. Call the Ranger Station at 833-1495 with a location and we will pick it up.

There is MORE trash along the waterways then last year. Please be prepared to pick up lots of small items.

If you stop at the Rotary for donuts on your way onto the park (like I will!) remember that your gloves, bags, etc will be at Perry Monument.
