Geocache Description:

Dead Blues Musicians Series - Bukka White

Welcome to this “Dead Blues Musician” tribute cache

Born Booker T. Washington White on November 12th, 1909, “Bukka” (which is a phonetic misspelling of Booker) lived in the Aberdeen, Mississippi area. He is most known for driving repetitive guitar rifs accented by bottleneck slide in addition to his loud, clear voice. His choice of instrument was the National resonator metal bodied guitars. His first recordings were in 1930 for Victor Records. He is also known for influencing many modern musicians such as Bob Dylan, John Fahey and Johnny Winter.

Bukka died in early 1977 from cancer in Memphis, Tennessee. He has since been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame.

Essential listening: “Parchman Farm Blues”, “Special Stream Line”, “Fixin' To Die Blues”

This is a small sanka container with pencil, log, and is initially stocked with some Lake Superior Agates and other trinkets. Park along 220th street, or near the intersection of 220th and Hiway 64. The house you see is mine, no need to worry about us. Just don't cross through our property to the next set of caches, otherwise my kids will talk your arm off and you won't make it home before dark. Please approach this series of caches from the roads only.

This cache is on private property (mine), which I give you permission for usage to find the cache only.

As you leave, give three short honks to say HI! Have fun!
