Geocache Description:

You’ll see remnants of the Gold Road from Route 66. Otherwise this hunt is as close as you’ll get to the former town at a former alignment of National Old Trails. Follow it down 600 ft to take great pictures of the abandoned road (still BLM land). But don’t go too far - 1/4 mile down & you encroach the mine’s property.
This is Arizona backcountry, watch for snakes Apr-Oct!

Gold Road was on Route 66 early to mid 1900’s. Abandoned mine tours were available once, but these stopped as gold value increased and mining continued. You’ll see remnants of the Gold Road from Route 66, otherwise this hunt is about as close as you can get to the former town. The cache is at a former alignment of National Old Trails. Follow it down for 600 ft to take great pictures of the abandoned road (still BLM land). But don’t go too far, about a 1/4 mile down and you encroach the mine’s property.
