Tuen Mun Typhoon Shelter was part of Castle Peak Bay.
In 1965, a "Castle Peak New Town" was planned. It was later renamed to Tuen Mun New Town. After Tuen Mun New Town implemented from 1970 , most part of Castle Peak Bay was reclaimed for Tuen Mun New Town, part of it became Tuen Mun Typhoon Shelter, only small part left as Castle Peak bay beach nowadays.
In the past, large amount of Tanka fishermen harboured here. Nowadays, still many fishing vessels berth here.
