Placed on the disused Knott-end to Garstang railway line, now a public footpath, GPS may be flaky due to tree cover, view on google maps and "use the force".

At the western end the track as completely returned to nature and passes through a small wood, at the time of placing bluebells where getting ready to emerge, please keep to the obvious path to avoid treading on the wild flowers. The area is a haven for bird life. It's well worth the trip just for that. Proper shoes/boots/wellies recommended, no sling backs or loafers. Great for kids and dogs, but please keep them on a lead ( dogs, not kids ). My advise would be park in Knott-end on Hackensall Road and access the track at the West End ( West Access N 53° 55.398 W 002° 59.356 ) taking in as much of the track as possible. Access to the disused line at the Preesall end is over the brow of the railway bridge on the North side of Park Lane, Preesall. There is an indication of a public footpath down some steps ( East Access N 53° 55.252 W 002° 58.149) Care must be taken going up the steps onto Park Lane at Preesall, because of passing cars at the top.
