My wife ParaPro and I have enjoyed cemetery caches for years. The quiet solitude and the history of the people who have come and gone make them very interesting places. This small cemetery is quite peaceful despite overlooking a highway down the hill below. There are some pretty fields and ponds beyond. After having visited and considered a cache in this cemetery several times, We had an idea to make something different from any caches we had seen before. Let us know what you think.
First off, thanks to everyone for the favorites. We never anticipated the cache would receive as many as it has, and we certainly appreciate it.
Do not try to get to this cache from the highway (I-49) or the outer road (Garrison) as the terrain makes it nearly impossible and dangerous.
This quiet little cemetery is located off of Interstate 49's west outer road (Garrison Ave). Two ways to get there:
Option 1) Take the I-49 Fir Rd exit (Exit 50) head west to the roundabout and exit south onto 'Dr. Russell Smith Way'. You will pass Mercy Hospital, and the road turns into Garrison Avenue a short distance later. About 2 miles from the roundabout, you will turn west onto Dogwood Rd and about .25 of a mile up to the cemetery entrance.
Option 2) Take the I-49 Cedar Rd exit (Exit 47), south of the cache and go west to the outer road and go north. This is Garrison Avenue. About 1.25 miles north turn west on Dogwood Rd and about .25 of a mile up to the cemetery entrance.
In the cemetery you can park a short walking distance to the cache which is on a very mild incline. No bushwhacking required. You don’t need to go outside of the cemetery to get to the cache (it is not on the steep hill beyond the fence line!). No room for swag. Bring your own pencil, be respectful of the location and please replace the cache as found. Thanks, and enjoy.
