The Renton Airport is also known as Clayton Scott Field, named after a local aviation pioneer. Clayton Scott, or Scotty, was a chief test pilot for the Boeing Airplane Company right here at Renton Airport. He also served as William Boeing's personal pilot. To celebrate Boeing's 50th anniversary in 1966, Scotty flew a replica Boeing and Westerfelt seaplane around the Statue of Liberty and under the Brooklyn Bridge. The airplane can be seen today in the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field.
This cache is a nano, located near the statue of Clayton Scott dedicated on his 101st birthday, at the South entrance to Renton Airport. There is public parking to the West, along with bench and plaques with more information about this interesting aviator. While there are surveillance cameras in the area, you should be able to find this cache without causing much suspicion.
According to Scotty: "The best part about flying is getting going - getting up in the air and going somewhere." Geocaching gets you up and going, too!
Congrats to Team Koppertop, who got the FTF within less than 20 minutes of being published!
