GSRCJ - SummerEnd Ride 2012 "The Hill" is a cache in the
the "G"reat "S"ummer-end "R"iding "C"ache "J"ourney a bit of a play on our original caching name.
This is set up to be a Matchbox car exchange... There used to be another cache down the trail dedicated to the exchange of Matchbox cars. It was one of the first caches we did when new to geocaching. Our son was so excited to trade a car. We had bought a nice new shinny one in the wrapper yet and stopped by to trade. He had been so disappointed that there was nothing in that cache to trade :( well that began our attempt to always leave a cache better than we found it and to teach the kid cachers that they have to take along some swag to trade if they want something - otherwise caches end up empty or with junk in them...
The old matchbox exchange cache was recently archived by the CO to make some room for my new caches along this bike trail. I thought it would be fitting to work in a matchbox exchange to help keep the kids interested and pay tribute to his former cache. This cache will start out well stocked with a few of the excess from our growing collection. (I am sure Greyson will not be happy with us for thinning his heard but it has to happen sometime).
I have been thinking about putting together a bike trail series and just kept putting it off. Finally at the end of 2012 I am going to get this series out for cachers to enjoy. It is best to either walk or bike down the bike trail for these caches.
There is not good parking along Ada Drive for these - Parking along the road it NOT preferred. If you are going to drive for these caches please park on a side road or safely in a parking area near a cache. Some parking coords are included on the beginning, middle and end of the series.
This cache is an Ammo Can placed on the Hill. Enjoy the hunt.
