Geocache Description:

The main roads from London to Holyhead passed through Daventry and the town for centuries flourished as a coaching town. There were many coaching inns in the town of which only a few remain. The old Royal Oak coaching inn stood on what was known as the Braunston road (the A45) which was the main road to London going south east and Birmingham and eventually Holyhead, going north west and was well outside of the town boundaries up until the creation of the Industrial estate. The Royal Oak was demolished (as far as I can find out) during the early 1960’s to make way for the Industrial estate that now bears its name. The actual location of the Inn was between the two roundabouts that now exist on the A45 close to the Cache hiding place. The Cache is home made, based around a small paint container from an Airfix kit. It is heavily disguised so do not give up too easily in your search. The best parking is at the end of Royal Oak Way North and is only a few yards from the hide. There is no parking on the A45. Beware of muggles at the start and end of working days. You will need to bring your own pen, and tweezers may be a good idea to remove the Log role from the container. Please ensure that the lid is fully closed when you have replaced the Log role.
