Geocache Description:

This cache was originally placed to recognize Maj.Duty on the occasion of his finding #1000. (Hence the Roman numeral reference in the cache title.) This is also a qualifier for the 113 on 113 within 113... Challenge (GC3G05G). Congrats, Maj! Way to go!

One thing about Maj.Duty: you have to be fast to beat him to an FTF. He is lightning quick! The puzzle recalls several of his FTFs, many from that prolific Woodland hider, JoyfulNomad. (Maybe I can distract Maj. with this cache and I can go FTF a new JN hide nearby.)

The final cache is at N 38° 3A.BCD W 121° 4E.FGH. Each of A-H represents a single digit.
A. Just over a year ago, on March 26, Maj.Duty pulled off an FTF double out in Winters. Number of characters in the shorter cache title.
B. He was getting ready to make caramel apples when he changed course to find -- and FTF -- a "Cell Tower" cache. Fourth character in the GC code? (G and C are the first and second characters of the GC code.)
C. On a Wednesday night back in December 2010, he beat me to a cache close to my home coords; I showed up at exactly 10pm, not good enough. How many different letters of the alphabet are needed to make up this cache's title? (Example: "ZZZZZZZ" would count as one; "2010" would count as zero.)
D. He scored FTFs on a series that was dedicated to such topics as Corn, Sugar Beets, and Alfalfa. First letter of the series? (A=1, B=2, ...)

E. One of my fastest ever finds was my #1564. But that wasn't good enough, as our honoree did the deed in 14 minutes! Number of words in the cache title?
F. DinoSmash put out a couple of hides on September 13, 2010. The Major FTF'd 'em both. Total number of words in both cache titles? Now subtract one from your answer.
G. It was February 8, 2011, and he found yet another use for good ol' duct tape. Referencing that cache's title, who is missing from the previous sentence? Now subtract one from the number of letters in your answer.
H. He scored an FTF on 12/17/2011 with another cache from a JoyfulNomad series. The number in the cache's title gives you what you need for this clue.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

Congratulations to Maj.Duty for the FTF!
