Long ago an evil troll named Mog ravaged the land. It thrived on death and sought for nothing more than its own satisfaction. Old tales even suggest the creature tortured the minds of its victims long before they found their final resting place at his hands.

There rose a hero in those days; a chieftain’s son named Anok, of the Whisper Wood tribe. It was prophesied that he would hold great power and someday deliver the tribe from evil itself. Anok became a gifted healer and seer of his tribe, and eventually became the chieftain.

One day while walking along the path of Saltrock, Anok suddenly became very ill; his stomach hurt and he began trembling violently. As he drew close to the ground on one knee he noticed two red eyes staring at him from the woods. It was in this moment he realized he was witnessing something so evil that even his mere proximity to it made him sick.

Reciting an ancient protective ward, Chieftain Anok raised his staff and willed the creature from the shadows. As it neared him it growled and cursed the chieftain. Anok knew right away who the being before him was, Mog the Ravager.

Grabbing a nearby stone he began binding and transforming the troll. As Mog fell to his knees Anok thrust his staff forward and cast out the troll’s eye, replacing it with the stone in his hand. As the chieftain completed his ritual, all that was left was a rectangular slab that bound the evil troll. A blue stone lay within where Mog’s eye once rested. Placing the slab on a wooden box, Chieftain Anok bound it up with trinkets of all shape and size to keep the troll under control for eternity.

Over the years the box has changed many times, however; the tribute remained the same. If you dare venture for the troll and his treasure, be sure to pay in kind an equal tribute, lest a great evil be unleashed upon the land.
