The Clinic is situated in Swayambu near the "Monkey Temple", next to the Buddhist monastery : ”Benchen Phuntsok Dargyeling”.
The objective is to offer free medical care to anyone who is in need. It helps the Tibetan monks at the monastery and also many other.
The clinic includes: Surgery, Laboratory, Dental clinic, a branch surgery in the village of Pharping.
In 1998 an organization was established in Denmark, with the purpose of collecting money for the clinic, and therefore is can be running free.
The Clinic is visited by 30 to 50 patients every day, and on a yearly basis about 7.000 consultations.
The most common diseases are stomach disorders, caused by malnutrition an infections, respiratory problems caused by heavy air pollution and ear, nose and throat diseases.
