Wizard of Ooze: Hello,
I’m a volunteer reviewer for geocaching.com. In a routine check of area caches, I see that your cache has been missing or in need of significant maintenance for an extended period of time. The geocaching guidelines include a section on Cache Maintenance
You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to ensure it is in proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.), or posts a Needs Maintenance log. Temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have addressed the problem. You are permitted a reasonable amount of time – generally up to 4 weeks – in which to check on your cache. If you decide not to replace a missing cache, please archive the listing. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing.
In addition, it appears that your cache container was buried as a way to conceal it. This is in violation of the guidelines for hiding geocaches -- they are never buried, either partly or entirely! Whether it was done by you at the time you placed it, or by others who found it later on, it is your responsibility as the cache owner to monitor the cache to ensure it remains in compliance with the guidelines and is in good condition.
Please pick up the remaining bits of your geocache so they don't remain as geo-litter in the environment.
Please do not respond to this note by sending an email reply — your response will go to an unmonitored location and disappear into the ethernet instead of being sent to me. If you need to contact me regarding this cache, please do so using the link on my Profile Page
