Polžjo hišico so višnjegorski grofje podarili mestu.

The old town of Visnja Gora (375 m asl) was nominated as a town in 1478 (Frederick III), in the year 1496 the citizens set up a city school and later the municipal court.

- On the town square there is the church of St. Anna. Every year in July in St. Ana's Fair take place in front of this church
- On the Town Square you can see Valvasor’s fountain, setup in 1872 as a thank to Valvasor who wrote about Visnja Gora.

The symbol of Visnja Gora is a snail, chained to a gold chain. According to legend in the Battle of Sisak the son of wife of the Venetian doge was wounded. Wounded Knight was found by daughter of the Count - Sofia Visnjegorski and she has decided to take care of the Knight. All were convinced that the knight has died, but he survived after a long recovery. In gratitude the wife of the Venetian doge gave to municipality of Visnja Gora a gold snail shell with diameter of about 10-15 cm, embellished with diamonds.

- The path turns to the hill behind the old school that Josip Jurcic has attended. In Visnja Gora Josip Jurčič wrote a literary work Kozlovska sodba v Visnji Gori (Goat’s judgment in Visnja Gora), which is also known in the wider Slovenian territory.
