Lamma Island - Ling Kok Shan
Ling Kok Shan is at 250m Lamma's second tallest peak after Mt Stenhouse. From here, in good weather, you can see large parts of Hong Kong Island and Lamma Island.
Less known is that the Japanese during the occupation of Hong Kong built some tunnels in the hillside. Besides the well-known kamikaze grottoes there are at least five tunnels higher up in the hills. I have no information on the intended use of these tunnels, other than that they are built by the military. One of them can be found about 10m north of this cache; the tunnel can be entered quite easily. A second tunnel (waypoint TUNNE2; access via trailhead TH2) can be found further down the path; this one is mostly filled with dirt but can still be entered. Hand and knee protection required; you have to crawl and the soil is very rough. Always be very careful when doing so, and remember you do so at your own risk.
Getting there.
Take the ferry from Central or Aberdeen to Sok Kwu Wan or Mo Tat Wan and walk from there. The direct path from Sok Kwu Wan is steep and rocky 3* terrain; the longer path from Mo Tat or from GC356TT is concreted and an easy 2* trail. From waypoint TH1 you can find a faint trail that leads to the cache and the cave.
