Geocache Description:

Placed near a plaque commemorating where Dic Aberdaron lived. There is no need to remove any stones from the wall.

Dic Aberdaron (Richard Robert Jones) 1780-1843 was born near this plaque. He was a linguist and intinerant traveller, reputed to have taught himself 14 or 15 languages including Latin by the age of 11 despite having little formal education.

He is buried in the grounds of the Church of St Kentigern and St Asaph, the parish church of St Asaph.

A 'knight of the road' he travelled the country with his cat and is said to have worn a ram's horn around his neck and been imbued withthe power to 'raise the devil'.

Some described his appearance as "disgusting and offensive" due to his long unkempt beard and threadbare clothes.
