Geocache Description:

Bring a pencil to sign the log. No room of tradables. Enjoy the area and history. Strasburg a suburb of LaSalle existed in 1910.

This area was once known as Strasburg. It was home to about 10 different families. These homes that once stood were made of stone. All of the homes sat below the hill and on the "shelves" part way up the hill. The new bridge that your standing on today was once a stone arch bridge spanning over The Little Vermillion River. Most of the families who lived in Strasberg were employed by M & H Zinc company. And many explosives were placed under the bridge and were placed there for easy access to blow up land in search for natural minerals. This land was rented to the families of Strasberg by M & H Zinc company for the rate of $1 a month for each individual lot. Locals say that traviling deep into the wooded area you may walk over some of the homes stone foundations. Others say no trace of the homes exsist today.
