Geocache Description:

This cache is 1 of 5 caches I have placed for the Cinco de Mayo event in NE Philly, organized by HereisHowe68!

It is located behind a place to eat Mexican food and culture!

It is a widespread misconception that Cinco de Mayo is Mexico's Independence Day; it is actually September 16. The date May 5, or Cinco de Mayo, is observed in the United States, and regionally in Mexico, as a celebration of Mexican heritage and culture. It also commemorates the cause of independence. Over the years the celebration of Cinco de Mayo has lost much of its meaning, and has been trivialized, and marketed as another day to "fiesta" and drink "muchas cervezas." However, Cinco de Mayo is observed to to remember the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces, at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Although considerably outnumbered, (like 4-1) the Mexicans defeated a much better-equipped French army. Since the Battle of Puebla, no country in the Americas has been invaded by any other European military force.
