Suro d'en Botifarreta
Gran suro, també anomenat "Suro de Can Iern". Pocs ho saben, però és l'arbre amb el perímetre més gran de Tossa (4'63 mts.), superant fins i tot es Pi Gros de Can Martí! Forma part d'una terna de suros tossencs emblemàtics, juntament al Suro de La Custòdia i el Suro d'Es Pop. El seu curiós nom sembla provenir d'un bosquetà anomenat Lluís Mas conegut amb aquest sobrenom.
Com és que aquest gegant vegetal, el més gran de Tossa, no té cap placa d'honor, cap document, cap figura específica de protecció legal? Potser no li cal per que si ha viscut tants segles és que en deu saber molt de cuidar-se tot sol... Té tres branques principals i set de secundàries i el trobem al principi del camí que surt del Sant Eloi resseguint la riera cap amunt. El fet de viure a prop de la riera li garanteix un sól fresc, ben estructurat i amb una renovada aportació de nutrients cada any; això segurament l'ha ajudat a viure tants i tants segles.
Big cork oak, also called "Can Iern's Cork". Few know it, but the tree with the largest perimeter of Tossa (4'63 m.), surpassing Pi Gros de Can Marti! Part of a shortlist of Tossa emblematic cork oaks with Suro de La Custòdia and Suro d'Es Pop. Its unusual name seems to come from a forestman called Lluís Mas,known by this nickname.
How is this giant plant, Tossa's largest, has no badge of honor, no document contained no specific legal protection? Maybe if he does not need to have lived so many centuries is that you may know a lot of looking after yourself alone... It has three main branches and seven secondary and are at beginning of way to get the St. Eloi along the creek up. Living near the river guarantees a fresh soil, well structured and with a renewed supply of nutrients each year it has certainly helped to live so many centuries.
