History: WWFM – World Wide Flash Mobs – A fun and friendly way to promote geocaching around the world. Thousands of geocachers at dozens of coordinated events spanning the globe, gathering at the same time.

Sonny and Sandy of the PodCacher podcast came up with the WWFM idea in 2007 after attending a mega-event. It was meant to be a fun “opposite” of a mega-event: all the cool aspects of a geocaching event, crammed into 15 minutes of excitement. An added dimension is represented by the letters "WW" - World Wide - these events occur across the planet on the same day at (mostly) the same time! These caching events are intended to bring geocachers together in a creative way, as well as introduce others (newbies) to the hobby.

Time line: 1:00 PM: Assemble at the coords, Sign Log, and enter drawing. 1:05 PM: Group Photo. 1:10 PM: Door Prize Drawing. 1:15 PM: Disperse.

Event: Come join your fellow cachers for very, very quick meet and greet. Swap stories, numbers and bring those puzzles that are giving you a hard time. We look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Make sure you log a note saying "Will Attend" so we can have a good head count for the event.

Information: We have confirmed with Groundspeak that there WILL BE a souvenir for all official WWFM IX events. The souvenir will be retroactively awarded to all people who have logged an "attended" log on any of the official WWFM IX events (from the bookmark list) within 3 DAYS of the event date on JUNE 12.
