Irvington is one of the most historic areas of Indianapolis. It’s actually the largest protected historic district in Indiana, the original home of Butler University, and a major historic stop on the National Road, otherwise known as US 40.
Historic Irvington has recognized the importance of Geocaching as a way to draw attention to places of historic and cultural significance, so join us at Jockamo’s Pizza at 11 AM on April 22nd, as we kick off the Great Irvington GPS Scavenger Hunt, a day devoted to discovering the historical and cultural sites in this part of town.
In addition to a number of new caches released highlighting the historical significance of Irvington, there’s also a GPS scavenger hunt on April 22nd that you are welcome to attend and compete for the chance not only win prizes, but to also learn more about this part of town.
We’ll gather at Jockamo’s at 11AM for lunch/brunch, and then the rest of the day those who wish will wander around and learn more about this wonderfully historic part of Indianapolis. There is a municipal lot directly behind Jockamo’s, and you’re welcome to leave your car there as you participate in various activities throughout the day. There is also on street parking available on Washington Street, as well as side streets. Parking is NOT available in the Library lot on Sundays, it is reserved for Church activities. Please do NOT park there.
If you plan to attend, PLEASE log your will attend by Friday, April 20th, as Jockamo’s is planning on staffing based on the “will attends”.
