Terrier Tribute #7 Westie
White Oak Savannah
One in a series celebrating the irrepressible terrier group. Matching them with West Linn’s wonderful parks is a natural fit.
The West Highland White Terrier originates from Poltalloch, Scotland. This hardy terrier, more commonly known as the "Westie," is known for its friendly personality and bright white coat. Said to be "all terrier," this breed possesses a large amount of spunk, determination and devotion stuffed into a compact little body. They are a very popular dog today.
The 14-acre White Oak Savanna is West Linn’s newest natural park. Spurred by the efforts of some determined citizens, the site was purchased by Oregon Parks and Recreation, Metro and the city of West Linn. This special open oak grassland habitat is currently being restored by removing invasive weeds and planting native plants. The area provides really great views as you wander among the old trees on this open hillside. There are new benches located around the upper part. And while there are paths planned, none have been constructed as of yet so you will be traversing the grassland where you will.
There are several access points, but for this cache it is probably best accessed by the Hall St. entrance unless you want an uphill climb. Tannler Drive affords another way to enter the park but will mean some significant elevation gain involved.
No dogs are allowed in this park. Bring your multi-tool to retrieve log and something to write with. No need to remove the receptacle for this micro cache. Please handle this cache carefully and replace it just as it was so it survives.
Congrats to two finders keepers and MsSkarlet for the FTF!
