This cache is in Wintergreen Woods, an open space/nature trail maintained by the Wethersfield Parks and Recreation Department. You are looking for a military-issue mess kit. Trails are well marked, but can be muddy. Please obey all park rules.
This cache replaces Wintergreen Woods, which was one of the oldest caches in the area, placed in 2002. Unfortunately, the cache needed some maintenance and the COs are no longer active, so that cache was archived. I felt guilty about that, so I rescued its contents and placed what I could in this reincarnation. Wintergreen Woods is 110 acres of open space and nature trails maintained by the Wethersfield Parks and Recreation Department. It has well marked trails which can be quite muddy in some areas. I took the red loop when placing this cache, but it is easily accessible via the blue trail loop. You will see and/or hear many birds, small animals, and possibly deer while taking this walk. The cache is approximately 100' off the trail, but you will be visible from the path, so be alert for muggles. Access to the cache required minimal bushwhacking when placed, but it may be more overgrown during the summer months. My GPSr showed an accuracy of about 10'. The cache is a medium-sized mess kit. I have not seen this type of container in the field before, so I am testing its suitability. It is important to close it properly and securely to maintain the integrity of the contents. Please rehide as you found it (or better). Ample parking is available off Folly Brook Boulevard. This cache was placed with the permission of the Wethersfield Parks and Recreation Department. Per their request, be advised that no alcohol is allowed and that the park closes at dusk. Please obey all park rules. Congratulations to Zaverj and Bakerman for the FTF and their wise decision to postpone errands and succumb to the lure of a walk in the woods to grab a new cache.
