Cold Spring Day Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Cyclops: I stopped in to replace the container and could not find the cache. Since the high winds destroyed the hiding spot, it's time to archive this one. Thanks to everyone that came out to look for my cache.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Located on the high ground of Mackinac Island. The trails on Mackinac Island vary in conditions. Be prepared for trip hazards like rocks and roots. A few sections of some trails have wet areas. Any trail will have puddles after a rain.

A well hidden cache along another of the many trails that runs on Mackinac Island. Horse riders use many of the trails so please yield the right of way to any horse.

You will be searching for a cammo'd round 5" x 7" plastic jar from one of my favorite snacks. It's Sunny Cranberry Mix from Target. Please re-hide as found or better. Please trade fair or don't trade.

I like to "engineer my hides to make them a challenge. This is hard to do when I'm away from my tools. This one could be a pretty good hide if finders replace it as found. Please replace it as found. Nothing really has been engineered on this hide, I just found a nice place and way to hide the cache.

I highly recommend picking up an "Mackinac Island Map" from the information booth across the street from the Arnold docks, N45 50.971 W84 37.075. If the maps are not in the holders on the front of the building, look on the sides of the building. For your convenience and planning, you can view or print the PDF files for two different Mackinac Island Maps here. Also available at the link is a zip file for some various waypoints for drinking fountains, bathrooms and a remote snack bar. The map available at the information booth is printed on a glossy paper and holds up fairly well when repeatedly tucked in and out of a pocket or caching bag.

I read many of the logs that are posted on my caches. Sometimes I can't read all of the emails. If you find a problem with any of my caches please post a "Needs Maintenance" log. Thank you.

This cache has available a system that I call "Progressive Hints". How this works is fairly simple. You click the "Progressive Hints" link below to send an email. A reply is sent back to you. In the body of the email you will see a vague hint. Then if you scroll down you'll see another hint that's more helpful. There will be several hints until the last one which will be a dead give away. Stages of a multi will each have this series of hints in the same email. Scroll down as far as you needed to. This will hopefully reduce the number of trips needed. If you have a phone that can send and receive emails you'll most likely only need one trip.

How to use:
1.) Click this link Progressive Hints to send a request for the Progressive Hints.
2.) You should get the reply in short order.
Please contact me via my profile if you have any problems or comments.
