The Breede River - also known as the Bree Rivier - rises in the mountains near Ceres and flows through the beautiful Breede River Valley en route to the Indian Ocean and is the main water source for this area.
The Breede River Valley is an incredibly picturesque fruit and wine producing area that stretches from McGregor in the south, to Gouda in the west, to Montagu in the east and the Karoo in the north.
The hot climate is ideal for the production of fortified dessert wines, like Muscadel and Hanepoort in particular, but with more than 50 wines estates and some brandy estates too, it certainly has an important role to play in what is marketed as 'The Longest Wine Route in the World'.
This valley is scattered with some super little towns which attract visitors all year round - Robertson, Ashton, Bonnievale, Barrydale, Montagu, Tulbagh and McGregor.
The area is surrounded by magnificent mountain ranges.
The cache, a tiny nano, is situated in a peaceful spot in the middle of nowhere, on the banks of the beautiful Breede.
Please bring a pen to sign the log.
