An easy cache to find but don't park beside GZ on the main road.
Take the turn off to Sofala Showground, Sofala Cemetery and Sofala Tip!!
Make sure there are no cars coming past. If you listen you can hear them coming from quite a distance.
Please place camo back as you found it.
The cache is next to the Sofala Cemetery but also near Sofala Showground from where there is a fabulous view overlooking the village of Sofala.
Sofala is Australia's oldest Goldrush town being established in 1851 and during the height of the goldrush there were 40,000 people here! The 2006 census had 208 residents, but now there are apparently about 40 permament residents. Numbers can swell to 400-500 on weekends and holiday periods though.
The cemetery is a very peaceful woodland setting. Very old and also well looked after by the locals. There are some sad stories if you have time to look at the epitaphs. The cemetery is still in use today.
The Sofala Showground and the area outside the showground are great places to walk your dog, but definitely not near GZ if the dog is off-leash.
The depression at GZ may or maynot have been there as a result of the goldrush period.
Congratulations to "TheDooms" for FTF
