Congratulations, you found a Cache for a Cause geocache. You are currently standing near the Hancock Shaker Village, established in 1791. This is the third of nineteen major Shaker villages established between 1783 and 1836. What is a Shaker you ask? The Shakers were an intriguing social and religious movement from the teachings of Ann Lee. The movement is more like a society. Ever see the "The Village"? Yeah. Kinda like that, but less cultish. The Shakers challenged the existing social and economic structure of the newly formed nation and developed an alternative lifestyle. Today few Shakers exist, and you get a rare chance to see the structure of this small working
society.
