Many years ago the GF&P had a children's play area built to resemble an old frontier fort, named "Old Fort Yankton". After the fort was dismantled, a building at this location was known as the Lewis & Clark Playhouse. The playhouse gave several plays and other entertainment events each year. Now the buildings are gone, and only the park dump station and firehouse remain.
This cache is hidden near the Lewis & Clark campground trail. The paved trail is intended for family hiking or biking excursions, and parking is available off the entry road to the station. A SD State Park sticker is required for parking within all park areas.
I have attempted to avoid dangerous areas and caches are normally located within a few yards of the trail or road, but be cautious as there can be ticks, poison ivy, stickers, and other hazards in the area. Enjoy the caching experience.
