Geocache Description:

This hide is at a beautiful site overlooking part of River Park, the Catawba River, and if we are not in a drought, the Manchester Creek as it flows freely into the Catawba. The power of the Catawba is controlled by the Duke Power Dam system and the Manchester is controlled by weather conditions and the amount of rain we have had recently. There is a nice place to have a seat and enjoy the view.

This is one of a number of caches along the Manchester Trail, which is a neat walking trail connecting Waterford Golf Course and River Park. The trail runs between the golf course and the Catawba River and most of it offers beautiful close-up views of the Catawba. The trail itself is a bit over 1 mile in length, and in addition River Park contains a number of different trails and caches. The closest parking coordinates are: Waterford (N34 56.969, W080 56.699) and River Park (N34 57.238, W080 57.178). The trail is wide and well mulched, and a small part of it is paved.

The combination of the river and the fairly deep tree cover makes the coords a bit "iffy" at times, but you shouldn't have any trouble locating this cache. Despite what your GPS may say, you must stay on the trail and go the full distance without trying to cut across the golf course.

Please use appropriate golf etiquette and keep voices down and try to remain motionless when golfers are present and in the act of hitting the ball. Both the park and the golf course have hours listed and are not open after dark.

The cache is a key keeper and you will need to bring your own pen. It is starting off with an interesting TB.

Cache is placed with permission from Rock Hill Parks, Recreation and Tourism. To learn more about Rock Hill parks, visit their website at www.rockhillrocks.com.
