A little update on the future of this area: On March 15th there was a city organized public meeting at Mission trails visitors center about Vernal pool conservation project. You can check the presentation at http://www.sandiego.gov/planning/pdf/2012/preserveworkshop.pdf It was about "did we encounter for all endangered species" and what are the next steps. All the questions along those lines were nicely answered. When it came to a few questions about Del Mar Mesa area, answers consisted of one or two short sentences, and I can't resist the feeling that there was some cynical tone in them. To make the long story short, in March of 2013 there will be a white paper released by conservation expert that will tell us how close, or how far, we, humans, hikers, bikers, geo-cachers etc. need to stay away from vernal pools. So, I'm gonna enjoy this nice area while I still can, while rangers are still "putting a blind eye" to responsible use of it. Hopefully, the caches along the N-S power line corridor will stay For FTF pick your price from the cache content. Have fun!
