Homemade Cache Traditional Cache

I have received a few comments about my homemade bottle cap caches. So here is one more for you to look for, but this one is in the woods.

I have made many of these and will pass along a few notes for those wishing to make some of their own.
- Pepsi 20oz products work better than Coke products because the neck of the container just below the cap is straighter. Coke bottles flair and makes for a harder cut/seal.
- Before gluing, use sandpaper to rough the edge of the end to receive the glue. And then rough the inside of the cap you are putting on this end. Makes the glue bond better.
- Use a strong epoxy that is weather proof. Hot glue guns will not hold up.
- Don't be shy with the glue. The more the merrier.
- If you paint them, do not paint the threads.
- Be sure to put the log in a small bag. Remember, these cap/bottles were made to keep moisture IN.
I have painted them, put hangers on them, added hooks, glued magnetic's and even hung one by fishing line. Be creative and enjoy.
Please be careful. I use a sheet rock knife to cut the bottles. They are tough and pressure will need to be applied so try to make the cut away from you to avoid slicing something besides the bottle. You will need all your fingers. in tact, for caching and logging your find.
Log only so be sure to have a pen handy or it might be a little bit of a walk back to the car.
As always, let me know if you need a hint.
