This geocache is part of the new "TH&B" series meant to draw attention to important local historical figures, as well as important historical events in and around the area along the old TH&B Railway (Toronto, Hamilton & Buffalo Railway). GRAND RIVER NAVIGATION COMPANY
Brantford’s economic development was turned on by the opening of the Grand River Navigation Company’s canal. It linked Brantford by water to the Welland canal and other important cities like Buffalo. In 1832 the Grand River Navigation Company began work on a system of canals, dams and locks along the Grand River. The canal brought freight and passengers into Brantford’s downtown and increased trade and attracted new business.
