Under the Rim: Payson's First Event Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team OPJim: Again, thanks to all who helped with this event, and all who attended![:D] The response, both in attendance and in positive feedback has been absolutely overwhelming! The Payson Area Cachers have certainly enjoyed both hosting the event and all the thank you notes we have received. On behalf of Keep on Trekking, 321Kaboom, KtTris, and myself, we really appreciate everyone attending this event.
While no decision has been made about next year, we are very gratified that so many have requested it.[^][^][^] May the rest of 2012 yield many finds[:)] and great adventures for all!

Geocache Description:

Kickoff the summer geocaching season under and over the Mogollon Rim with an Event Cache in Payson Arizona! This is the first event (that we know of) held in Payson. It is co-sponsored by Opjim, KtTris, and 321Kaboom; Keep on Trekking will migrate down from Pine.

The Event will start at 830 AM.

This is a chance for local and not so local cachers to meet each other. This is a great opportunity to share information on local caches: if you have a cache in the Rim Country you couldn't find, or want information on where the best caches in the area are, this is your chance! We have commitments from several of the local COs to be there.

Itinerary is as follows:
830 Begin event. Sign log, obtain door-prize tickets, trade travel bugs, and otherwise mingle
945 Drawing of Door Prizes. There are some cool prizes planned!
1000 Four unfound caches will be introduced, and the race is on. FTF prizes will be awarded for each cache. While some may want to seek these caches, others are welcome to stay at the event site. Each cache will also have a letter which can be used to find the final cache using these letters.
1300 We will have a representative available until 1 PM to distribute the FTF prizes for the first four caches. People are welcome to come and go as they like!

Payson and the surrounding areas are full of geocaches: over 250 can be found within a 10 mile radius. These vary from tricky micros to park and grabs. There are small containers, ammocans, and some cleverly hidden variants. There are scenic multicaches, puzzles caches (some of which are still unfound), challenge caches. If you haven't cached here before, you can easily fill your day with finds. For the repeat visitor, there are new caches since your last visit!

The location is Rumsey park, Ramada 1. Follow the map to the park. Once inside the park, the road is one way running counter-clockwise. Further information will be posted on the cache page as the date approaches.
