The 45th Parallel crosses the lower South Island at a number of interest spots.
This one takes you to the Central Otago Rail Trail very near SH85. Also within a 100m of the marker is the highest point on the cycle trail at 618m above sea level
The cache is a 200 ml sistema hidden with in 5 meters of the marker. A very short diversion if you are on the rail trail or a small scramble up from the highway. If you intend walking up from the highway take particular care to park well off this busy highway. Bring your own pen.
