A small container with trade items by an impressive century old brick schoolhouse.
The C.N.R. line was surveyed between Saskatoon and Calgary in 1907, and in August 1909, the steel reached the site of Netherhill. As soon as the railway arrived, business began. By 1910, there were three lumber yards, general stores, a blacksmith shop, harnessmaker, a “men’s furnishing” store, barber shop, post office, restaurant, hotel, hardware store, bank, and real estate office .
The original country school was originally three and a half miles northwest of the village, but a new brick structure was built in town in 1912, and is still standing today. It was already necessary to add on to the building in 1914, when it took its present form. The school offered classes from grades 1 to 12, but eventually the high school students went to Kindersley to complete their schooling. The school continued to offer elementary classes until the mid sixties. The building was later utilized as an Oddfellow and Rebekkah Lodge, and is currently privately owned and used for storage by a local family.
