Daily Find or FTF? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

benandjayme: Bummer. Based on the last log it sounds like it's time to let this one go. It had a good run of 3+ years without any trouble from the groundskeepers, but it sounds like recent searchers have not been as kind to the surroundings.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Potentially high muggle area! Please do not attempt to find this cache if there is a game or practice happening on the adjacent fields! The cache is in a very open area, so there's pretty much no way to be stealthy.

We're factoring the finding of a relatively muggle-free time into the 2.5 difficulty rating. Once you find the right time, the hide itself is probably a 1.5 or 2. Have fun!

------------------

We've been working on a cache-a-day streak for a while now. As of placing this cache, our streak stands at 346 days. Anybody who's done a long term caching streak knows that as you get deeper and deeper into the streak, you make greater changes to your normal caching habits.

One big change we've noticed in our own habits is that we rarely go after FTFs anymore. Why? The pursuit of streaking goals has left us with almost no unfound caches within 10 miles. Nearby caches are so rare for us - and so precious for streaking purposes - that when we get the notification for a new cache nearby, we'll only go for the FTF if we haven't yet made our daily find. Otherwise, we save the new cache for another day even if we might have a shot a the FTF. Put differently: at this point we've decided that the streak is more important to us than the FTF.

We know that a few of our friends in the area are also working on long streaks, so this cache will serve as a test for them. We're pretty sure we know what side of the fence our streaking friends are on, but maybe we'll be surprised. So, daily find or FTF?

*** Congrats to 2papillons on the FTF! ***
