Geocache Description:

Cache is hidden in a small hide-a-key box. Muggles galore. Bring your own pen.

Visitor Parking is located at N 37 17.900 / 78 23.847 (Campus Library)
or N 37 17.928 / 78 23.755 (Campus Police)

A long time ago in 1839 a great metal monster was born. He rose from the molten core of the earth and made his first appearance in the small town of Farmville. The town residents were terrified to see the great metal monstrosity roaming the landscape, unsure of his intentions. Much like most monsters, he had a kind heart, and was only looking for a place to call his home...similar to the 4,000 students also residing on Longwood University's campus.

On a cold April day another robot came to town and only wanted to cause harm. He set the town ablaze, ransacked food stores, and stole children's iPhones! Wanting desperately to protect the students who had become his friends and family, he set out on a mission to destroy his trouble causing foe.

A great clash of iron might met on the outskirts of town at the site which is now called Willis mountain. The town watched from afar as the two lit up the night with sparks of passion; one of anger and the other of love.

While it saddened the Lancer Protector deeply to harm another being, he knew it must be done to protect the town and school. As a special thank you, the Brock Commons Sculpture Program allowed him to chose a spot at school where they would restructure a tribute to him, both as a memorial of what he had done for the town, and as a remind to any who may try to cause harm.

He chose this spot, nestled in the flowers, and near the works of literary masters and knowledge, as it overlooks most of Brock Commons and he would always be able to protect the Longwood and Farmville campus in spirit, even if one day, years down the road, he had to leave us to protect another campus.

Seeking out this cache at night is recommended due to muggles galore. For bonus points, find the switch....it works!! The campus grounds are home to many pieces of art, selected by senior art students, which visit the school on a temporary basis., before traveling to another!

Park at either or the library visitors spots or the ones by campus police. Bring your own pen, as the cache is a small, black hide-a-key box.
