Beaver Dam! Oh Beaver Dam! The Twoth Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

REDS Family Seekers: This one has been here for some time and I believe these beavers have been trapped by a developer and removed. This wilderness area in the middle of an busy (and growing) community area is being ripped up to develop housing. I am worried the container will be lost. The container is pretty grungy too. Time to retire it.

Geocache Description:

This is the second in a series started some time ago.

A short walk will take you alongside a small creek that has been dammed by a busy beaver. He has actually built 2 dams (I guess the first one was not good enough).

If you pay attention on the walk in, you will notice LOTS of trees that have been gnawed off by the beaver, some grey with age. He even has a few that are not finished being felled.

This cache is tied to 2 others in the local area. One is the original Beaver Dam! Oh Beaver Dam! GC16XRF and the other is an Earthcache Sandpoint Anyone? GC16XPV that explains why there is so much sand in the Valley, as you can see here. The sand really starts to become evident about 150 metres in from the parking spot.

Most of the walk is a terrain level 1, but as you get closer to the cache site, you will notice GZ is a bit tougher. I suspect as the warmer weather comes, there may be a few thorns evident along the way as well.

Please re-hide the cache as you found it, so others can have the fun of finding it as well.

One last note - as there is a lot of sand here, there are likely to be a few ants as well. The ones we saw along the way in when we placed the cache were the small black ants, but I suspect there may be a few larger ones waiting for the warmer weather. They should not be a problem, but be aware of their nests!.

There is a FTF certificate in the cache. Happy hunting!
