Geocache Description:

Close to an elevated area overlooking Torquays coastal zoo

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM
(Extract from the Laurence Binyon poem For The Fallen)

This is a series of caches designed to remind us of the sacrifice given by members of the armed forces not just in the two world wars but in all wars since, and those still being fought. NONE of the caches are placed on any of the memorial sites but at a respectful distance. No parking at cache site but 4 car parks within 5 min walk.

During the second world war many prominent hotels around Torquay were commmandeered by the RAF and used for training or as hospitals. From the raised viewing area to your right (as you look seaward) on the 8th May 1942 King George VI with Queen Elizabeth observed a march past by members of the RAF stationed and training in Torbay.
Take a seat to enjoy the view and reflect, or go to the seats below where you can look down into the coastal zoo and watch the penguins.

Cache is a small clip lock box with log and pencil, at time of placing also jtown tb.

Please note site may not be available on 5th May 2012 due to 70th Aniversary march past.

Cache placed with kind permission of Torbay Council.
