Geocache Description:

Parking is at the Forestry Picnic Site and Car Park on the A487 between Corris and Machynlleth, near Pantperthog.

Cache placed with the kind permission of the Forestry Commission:-

"Please be aware of the following comments:

1. After looking at the standing agreement for this area ,we can grant permission for the go ahead for these GPS- based treasure hunts,the cache owner seems to be aware of Harvesting work ongoing in the Moel Heulwen area and of the timber traffic.
I know of a closure on a Bridal way on the Clear Fell site in that area so he needs to be informed of the closure.

2. I think that we should also ask the owner to inform us if they are no longer in use, & it would be good if he could report any problems or issues. "

The Forestry Commission began planting these woods after the First World War as the war effort had used up Britain's timber. This continued through the Second World War with Land Army Girls, known as 'Timber Jills', helping out. Much of the work was done by hand with horses pulling out the logs.

The Animal puzzle trail follows the Cwn Cadian Trail.

Be a nature detective on this special trail for children. Pick up a leaflet from the dispenser outside the toilet block and work out the clues to find the hidden animals in the woods.
