Geocache Description:

This small cemetery lies behind the log house across the street. It's visible from an angle further north. The log house was first a Baptist church, built in 1837 from logs donated by congregation members. The church remained in use until the membership dwindled through changes in the community. It then became a Pentecostal temple for a time, continuing in this use into the 1940's. When this group could no longer support themselves, the building was sold to the Canadian Order of Foresters, a benevolent society, for their meetings. These continued for a time, but eventually the building fell into disuse. It was bought privately but remained unused. Around 1984 the building was sold again. It had been altered surprisingly little over the years. The new owners were determined to live there, and did considerable renovating and altering. It now appears to be a most attractive dwelling. The records for both the Baptist and Pentecostal congregations are not known to exist, according to an informal inquiry made in the community, but they may very well be stored somewhere in the vicinity. The cemetery's most recent burial would appear to have been in 1942, although the most active period for its use would seem to be 1880 to 1920. This may also represent the heyday of the Baptist congregation as well.
