Geocache Description:

The monastery of Faneromeni in the island of Lefkada is built on a green hill west just over the main city of the island. From the monastery you can enjoy magnificent views of the coast of Agios Ioannis and the Gyra The monastery itself is very important and dates back to the first apostolic years and the foundation of the christianic religion in the island. Its more than worth a visit. The monastery is only 3 km from the city of Lefkada and you can go there by bus , car of foot. Unfortunately the road has destroyed parts of the original path that lead from the city to the monastery. There are still some parts of this path though and my cache is hidden along the trail. There are two places where you could park your car and take the trail depending on how much you want to walk. In either case the hike is relatively short , between 5 and 15 minutes plus 10 more minutes if you want to walk all the way to the monastery , which I strongly advise. The cache itself I am afraid is a very crude one. Just a small tupperware with a notebook and a pen. No trinkets inside, no ftf prize, no sticky geocaching labels. The reason is I didnt come to the island prepared to hide or seek any caches. But the mystic feeling of the whole place just forced me to hide this cache. I encourage you to enrich this cache once you find it with your own sets of labels and trinkets making it rather a commune cache listing than just my own.
